SAGA SEED THEATRE INCUBATION PROGRAMME

Saga Seed Theatre is proud to present their inaugural Incubation Programme for Singapore-based playwrights who are looking to develop and present their work.

PROGRAMME AIMS

  • To create a platform for the presentation of new and/or unstaged works by Singapore-based playwrights which have not had the opportunity for dramaturgical development and/or production;

  • To bring together independent and emerging theatre directors and practitioners in an honest, nurturing environment to develop new theatrical works and voices and building a sustainable theatre-making processes; and

  • To build relationships and a network of theatre collaborators.

HOW IT WORKS

We will be selecting 4 scripts to undergo an incubation process that will culminate in a rehearsed reading in the first quarter of 2017, to be directed by our Associate Directors, Tan Liting and Thong Pei Qin.

The scripts will be selected by the team based on artistic merit and potential for development. Each Associate Director will undertake 2 scripts that align with their interests and expertise and be committed to the dramaturgical development of the work, and also work closely with the playwright(s) towards the realisation of the work.

The Incubation Programme will be overseen by Artistic Director Jean Tay and produced by creative producer Mok Cui Yin.

Playwrights will be paid a project honorarium for their commitment and involvement to this development process. In the longer term, Saga Seed Theatre is also committed to working with the playwrights towards a full staging of the selected scripts between 2017-2020.

SUBMIT YOUR SCRIPTS TODAY!
We are looking for complete theatre scripts that have not been produced or staged. There are no limitations on number of scripts a single playwright can submit. There are also no restrictions on age, background, and/or level of experience. We would prefer scripts for which the rights presently remain with the playwright.

Please submit your complete script together with a short playwright’s statement of interest to sagaseedtheatre@gmail.com by 10th October 2016.

Submissions will be kept confidential and all rights for submitted material will remain with their owners.
